3 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Tour

Tour Summary

Ngamba Island, just 23 kilometers from Entebbe, spans 100 acres and is home to 40 orphaned chimpanzees in a sanctuary established in 1997. Open to visitors since 1999, it offers a unique opportunity to observe and feed these primates up close.

Activities include Chimpanzee viewing and feeding, fishing village tour, bird watching and sunset boatcruise

Day 1: Entebbe – Ngamba Island

Guests will be picked up from Entebbe or Kampala and transported to a briefing location. A boat cruise (50 min by speedboat, 90 min by traditional boat) will take them to Ngamba Island, where they can observe the chimpanzees during feeding.

Day 2: Ngamba Island Sanctuary tour

After breakfast, guests will enjoy a forest walk to see chimpanzees and birds, followed by a village visit. After lunch, there’s time for swimming at the equator or relaxing at local accommodation

Day 3: Departure from Ngamba Island to Entebbe

Guests will take a boat back to Entebbe for their flight home, with morning departures at 0900hrs and afternoon at 1200hrs. Various types of boats are available, accommodating 5 to 20 passengers.
